Peas

The Zwicky pea range

  • Yellow Peas
  • Green Peas
  • Chickpeas

The pea is also one of the oldest cultivated plants in human history. According to archaeological finds the pulse was already used as a foodstuff and animal feed 10,000 years ago. There are around 250 pea types that differ from one another in shape, size and colour. The yellow and green dried peas are so-called shelling peas. These ripen in their shells before they are harvested and then dried.

Ingredients

Dried peas are practically fat-free and, as with almost all pulses, particularly rich in protein and soluble roughage. In 100 grams of cooked dried peas there are around 8 grams of roughage and more than 8 grams of protein. Plus, peas also have a relatively high proportion of vitamin E, potassium, magnesium and iron.
